When did you begin VJing? When I was 14. I was a part of youth group, and there was this ad for a new teen Christian TV show, and they were looking for a female co-host and a male co-host. To enter, you had to send in a tape. So I did that, and on the tape, I wrote a religious song and sang it acapella, then I introduced myself, pretended to interview people, and I think I even used a hairbrush as the microphone!! I also did some crazy goofy comedy skit type things!!! LOL. I really wish I had a copy of that tape!!!! Haha So I got the gig and did that for 3 years. It was awesome. The studio was only a few minutes from my house and we taped sometimes after school, on weekends, and during the summers. The show focused on topics like Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Abortion, Overcoming Challenges, Self Motivation and Awareness, topics like that. It really felt great to share & express my opinions and experiences, and interact with the guests on the show. There would be about 5 to 6 guests each time. THEN! There’d be a spot light interview! Either I’d conduct this interview, or someone else, but it was usually done at a park, the person’s house, or someplace peaceful. It was very intimate and sincere. Then back that the studio, we’d introduce the video, then when the final edit was complete it’d just cut from the studio to the story. Got a kick out of that! At the end of each episode we’d introduce a music video that had lyrics that related to that show topic. I learned so much too, such as direction, reading from a teleprompter, improvisation, diction, memorization, shifting topics and keeping the energy up. I also got the opportunity to help write the scripts and come up with show ideas. Everyone was really sweet too, so that was a plus.
What is it about hosting, and interviewing people that fuels you to continue doing it?
Curiosity. What do you have to say? I want to hear it. I want to talk to you about it. And listen. I Love People! I am in love with interacting with human beings. The connection between minds is so interesting and fun. It’s also a natural part of my personality. So I feel most like Andriana when I’m able to express myself through any form of communication, whether it be through conversation, dance, music, video, fashion, writing, art, or community service. I was walking down the street the other day when I saw a man in a business suit with a question mark shaved in the back of his head, so I asked him why, then interviewed him for Andriana TV’s ‘Life @ Random’ Channel. The reason was so inspirational. I was effected by this stranger. By sharing these episodes, whatever they may be; music, fashion, life, I hope to entertain and inspire those who watch. This passion is what fuels me to continue hosting and interviewing people. YAY!
What other hosts do you like?
Ellen, Bill Maher, & Bob Barker, he’s got such poise, must be doing something right if he’s hosted ' The Price Is Right for like 33 yrs! Haha Dr. Phil’s pretty rad too. Oh! And Conan O’Brien!
What program do you use to edit your videos?
Final Cut Studio
How did you even get into video editing?
I was VJing for a company that was going through some tough times. Eventually, there was no cameraman, or editor, but there were still interview opportunities pending. So still using their equiptment, I found someone to hold the camera, then I’d conduct the interview. I’d need equipment if I wanted to do these productions independently, so I worked at a photo studio in NYC for a few months in order to make money. I woke up at 5am everyday, caught the 6:45am train to NYC and had to be at work by 8:30am. I worked until about 6:30pm, so I got home around 8:30pm or 9pm. This experience inspired a song I wrote called 5am, (currently demoing here at home). I finally got my equipment: Powerbook, Camera, Programs, External Harddrive, Lights, Microphones, & MBOX (to record my songs). I quickly taught myself Final Cut Pro and began making episodes. Regina Spektor LIVE AT the TLA was my very first edit. At the time, I didn’t let anyone know that. I just said, “I’ll do it”, and I did. Took me about a month long, But then I finally finished, and was satisfied. Oink-a-Boink Productions was born.
How did Andriana TV come about?
With it’s first channel: ‘RockJournals’. Finding a dependable camera man for music artist interviews got annoying, so I said to myself, “Let’s do this” and myself said, “YAY!!!!!” so we videoed, hosted, then edited the interviews. I began to develop a style of my own. Then something really strange began to happen; I starting whipping out my camera all the time, to video things, then I started talking into it and saying stuff. LOL Then I started walking up to people that I thought were interesting, and then interviewing them; ‘Life @ Random’ was born (2nd Channel). But seriously, in NYC it’s so easy to meet people, and they’re really cool and open, and most of the time they’re not even FROM NYC!!! (Rock Journals: Hollywood Sinners from Spain, Makeshift Romeo from FL…I guess, you can say have a nitch for scouting out musicians in a crowd of humans. Life @ Random: DALLAS, & Nicholas the Painter). While all this is going on I am designing the Andriana Santiago Designs Collection. I document this journey in Fashion Journals. With the Andriana Cam I am able to act myself to the max, no limitations. This is what I call Andriana TV.
Andriana TV has 3 Channels.
